Innovations in Sensors for Automotive Safety STMicroelectronics has introduced the ASM330LHBG1 module, an innovative three-axis accelerometer and gyroscope designed specifically for functional safety applications in vehicles. This device is not only AEC-Q100 Grade 1 certified but also supports extreme temperatures from -40°C to 125°C, making it ideal for use in the engine compartment and areas exposed to direct sunlight.

Advanced Capabilities and Applications The ASM330LHBG1 stands out for its high accuracy and reliability, crucial for systems like vehicle navigation, automotive electronics, and support in automated driving. Its applications include digital stabilization of cameras, lidars, and radars, active suspension, door modules, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications, adaptive lighting, and motion-activated functions. Additionally, the module integrates temperature compensation and a six-channel synchronized output, enhancing the accuracy of position estimation algorithms.

Cutting-Edge Technology and Compliance with Safety Standards Equipped with a machine learning core (MLC) and a programmable finite state machine (FSM), the ASM330LHBG1 can execute artificial intelligence algorithms directly on the sensor, offering smart functionalities with low power consumption. This IMU is pin-to-pin compatible and maintains the same register configuration as other ST automotive IMUs, allowing for hassle-free upgrades. Furthermore, the module’s independently certified software library complies with ISO26262, providing safety-compliant redundancy through the use of two ASM330LHBG1 modules, which facilitates system certification up to Automotive Safety Integrity Level B (ASIL B).

Availability and Pricing The ASM330LHBG1 is now in production and is offered in a 14-lead, 2.5mm x 3mm VFLGA plastic land grid array package. The budgetary price is $9.40 for orders of 1000 units.
